The 2017 third section test piece for the National Championships is Hinemoa by Gareth Wood.  Commissioned by the New Zealand Brass Band Association to commemorate 100 years of contesting in New Zealand. This work was first used at the 1980 National Brass Band Championships held in Christchurch, New Zealand.  It tells a love story of Hinemoa, the beautiful daughter of Amukaria, a great Moon chief.

With deepest regret we mourn the passing of Cliff, a past conductor, composer and friend.  Deepest sympathy to all his family.  The funeral will take place at Grimsby Crematorium on Friday 12th May at 1140am.
